Our Farm Story
We used to talk about someday retiring to a farm once our children were grown and our careers had run their course. At the time, we had a few chickens, a handful of rabbits, a small flock of ducks, and some pretty big dreams.
Then our third and fourth children were born in 2020. Grocery store shelves were empty. There were meat shortages, labor shortages; the costs of staples skyrocketed. People were living in fear. Our “maybe someday” became “right now.” We turned to regenerative farming as a sustainable, reliable food source.
The first change we noticed was in the taste. The flavors in truly cage-free chicken and pasture raised pork are unbelievable. Meats from the average grocery store are raised in small spaces, with little or no sunlight, often in dirty and inhumane conditions. Our animals are raised outside on fresh, green land, and handled with care and respect. It makes a difference.
Then we realized we were healthier. The less processed foods and CAFO meats we ate, the better we felt. We could also see the difference in our children.
Now, we are sharing this experience with you: reliable, sustainable, ethically raised food, free of chemicals, hormones, and unnecessary antibiotics.
Who We Are
Howdy! My name is Crysta, and I’m a Texas native, raised on the outskirts of Lubbock.
My family raised beef cattle when I was a kid. We started with Angus cross bottle calves from a local dairy, and I have fond memories of waking up with the sun to give a bottle to a calf in the backyard (though I’ll admit it didn’t always seem so glorious when we were doing it).
I was lucky enough to have parents who instilled a sense of duty within me at a young age to never simply take from the land through our gardening, hunting, fishing, and livestock rearing practices. Our relationship with nature must be mutually beneficial, or the rivers of bounty that the earth provides will eventually run dry.
Will is the wood to my fire. Without him, I would have burned out before I ever got started.
Though he was born in Texas, he was a Navy brat who spent most of his childhood in San Diego. During the summers, he helped with the chickens and sheep on his father’s hobby farm. As a teen, his family moved to Oregon where he attended Farrier School. Then as an adult, he enlisted in the Navy himself and was sent to Norfolk, Virginia.
We have four children who are the driving force behind all that we do.
